hi!!! a bunch of questions for 50 questions for rook (bc your mourn watch rook is soooooo cool i love her sm shes got so much style (i also wanted to make rook exactly like yours, your just looks so pretty.. wanna kissie) (заметила что вы говорите на русском, улыбнулась :) ) 2, 5, 12, 18, 29, 42, 46 (no need to answer all of them! or you can. whatever you want its up to you)
энивэй i think i'd rather do the ask game in english so prepare for some not so good translation DATV SPOILERS AHEAD!!!
2. How did Rook get the nickname? What do they think of it? It's all on Varric. When they met for the first time she properly introduced herself as the Mourn Watcher Georgina Ingellvar or just Watcher Ingellvar. He said that's rather fancy name. She said yes thank you i like it a lot. And than he never called her that name ever again. At first it was just "kid" despite her being 35 years old woman but than after knowing her a bit better and witnessing one time her especially pathetically losing at chess he started calling her Rook. When she asked "why Rook?" Varric explained that Rook is one of the most powerful pieces on the board but tends to go only in straight lines. Much like her. She carefully considered this rendition of her character and decided that she does not mind a cute nickname between friends. But han literally everyone started calling her Rook. It's a bit frustrating. She still has a name, you know? And she is quite fond of it! (she also called him only master Tethras just to be a little bit petty)
5. What was life like for Rook before joining the Veilguard? Quiet and predictable. At least what counts as quiet and predictable for the Mourn Watchers. Georgina takes a lot of joy and pride at her work for the Mourn Watch. Since she is a dwarf and cannot participate in any magical necromancer stuff she was usually tasked with more manual work and studies. Beside her regular role as sturdy and unpossesseble shield between her fellow Mourn Watchers and whatever monstrosity Necropolis conjured this time she also did a lot of gardening and sewing for the dead. She finds this tedious and methodical type of work quite relaxing outside of her usual fighting duties. She also loved Nevarran galas and balls where Mourn Watchers are usually invited even if a lot of time it required of her to wear parade armour when shed rather twirl in a dress. She loves fancy Nevarran dresses.
12. Does Rook have any family? Do they keep in touch? I think i will kinda skip this one because of Mourn Watcher Rook background you know. I just like it a lot and dont want to change anything. So no! They are all probably dead! Or lost! She is a pretty lonely and reserved woman!
18. Their fondest childhood memory: First time seeing the Memorial Gardens. Grand Necropolis is a pretty gloom and. well. dead place even if you find it beautiful and majestic like Georgina does. She grew up amongst it's ghastly, quiet and noble halls. But when she saw the gardens for a first time she truly realized how beautiful life can be. Of course she was a young teen at the time and was brought here to study ritual practices along with her peers but she was way more fascinated with various nocturnal greenery and intricate graves. This experience planted her appreciation for the beauty of life and death, their interconnections and her fascination with nature as a whole.
29. Any vices? She is not a strategic type at all. Planning? Plotting? Scheming? Wouldnt even cross her mind to do so. She is extremely straightforward and lets her heart lead her to places i wouldnt even go with a gun. Her intuition is usually pretty on point tho. But she will readily put herself in danger anyway because Georgina views herself as a shield between her loved ones and whatever threatens them and of course when she fails to do so she takes it bad. If she cant protect her people what is even her purpose? If she cant take a hit for them why is she even there? She is also pretty pessimistic about life in general. But it's this type of pessimism like "Yes everything is going to be awful and we all will end up dead or worse but still i will try my best and try and try again because i couldnt live with myself if i wont at least try". I think it's one of the things about her that made Varric trust her with handling the team. She also feels a bit inferior all he time because while technically she is a part of Mourn Watch - quite elite and well respected group - she cant do a lot of things her peers are abele to do due to her being a dwarf, completely severed from the fade. So she doubles up on things she can do - protection, being of use, supporting others - and tends to forget about herself and her own needs and feelings
42. Something Rook regrets: She regrets never being able to meet her parents. Even with a friend who practices corpse whispering there is no way to find their bodies anymore. (Yes i know about this one skeleton in necropolis BUT SHE DOSENT okay) After visiting Kal-Sharok with Harding she cant help but wonder where did she came from. What if all this time she had a living family somewhere and now she'll newer know them. Would they be proud of her? She wants to make them proud even if they dont exist. Also she hates to admit it and will never say it out loud but sometimes she regrets taking on this job with Varric at all. She cant help but wonder what if there was someone better instead of her. Less rash, more qualified, better suited to lead and deal with world-shattering events and manipulative liars. Someone like Inquisitor Adaar, quiet, thoughtful and collected or this Hawke fella Varric was so fond of. He sounded like a good leader even for the group of the most difficult people. What if someone more like them was in her place Treviso could be saved from the blight? Davrin and Assan could still be alive? It all could be over way sooner, and Minrathous could be unharmed? What they would have done different? Mabe she should have been the one to fall instead of Davrin? If she cant be the shield than what is she?
46. What does it take to earn Rook’s trust? Embarrassingly not much. Yes she is initially suspicious of people and even borderline hostile at times but a couple of pleasantries later and she may turn 180 degree. Again, her intuition is usually pretty on point plus she sympathizes with people easily, working with dying and mourning granted her a lot of empathy, but some may call it a fatal flaw. She tends to start hostile with people mostly to compensate this trait and not seem too easy and gullible.
#dragon age#datv#datv rook#rook ask game#rook ingellvar#georgina ingellvar#now to be clear#adaar is not collected AT ALL#and he is quiet indeed but because of anxiety#this boy is hanging by a thread#but he practiced his public face for years
